Each room is furnished with items for your wellbeing and comfort and includes central heating, fire alarm,
nurse call alarm and television socket for your own set. We encourage you to personalise your room with your

Horton House is surrounded by secluded gardens, including patio areas in the front and back of the home. We
are situated in a residential area close to the city centre amidst local amenities such as shops, main bus routes,
public houses, GP surgery, dentist, nearby to Gloucester rail service and within reach of several places of
worship.
The daily running of the home is dealt with by the Manager and care staff, who are always on hand to assist in
any way possible.
Social and recreational activities are organised daily for those wishing to participate.
My contact with Horton House started last year when my Mother was well enough to leave Gloucester Royal Hospital after a life-threatening
illness. After one month the doctors were telling me “we think your Mother has months rather than years to live”. I then had to find a care
home in a hurry that was prepared to take on someone so very ill.
I thank the lord for my luck in finding Horton House. And as it later turned out it was also luck that we kept her old clothes. When we first
took her there she was so thin we had to buy all new clothes two sizes smaller.
But now Horton House’s family cooking and professional care has meant that Mum is now back to her old size. And although her mental
state has deteriorated further as she has had acute short-term memory loss for years (they also deal very well with this and help me to cope
with it too) she is physically much better, and I can now start thinking of her being with us for much longer than the specialists in the hospital
gave me as a diagnosis. She has now been at Horton House more than a year and is healthy happy and has a good quality of life.
So, if anyone asked me now what an ideal home would look like that I would want my Mother to be in, I would say go look round Horton
House and talk to the family that run it and the staff that work for them. They all make it more like a family home than a care home. They
strike a very clever balance between a place to live and a place to be cared for. – Steve, son of resident
Horton House is really and truly a home
from home. My Nan has been with Horton
House now for respite care on and off for
a year and has now been made
permanent much to our delight. She's so
happy there, the staff cannot do enough
for her, they always make sure she's well
cared for and happy. Everyone is always
caring, kind and I know my Nan is safe,
happy and healthy in their care. I cannot
recommend Horton House more, they are
a home from home.- Hayley,
granddaughter of resident
I cannot speak highly enough about
the management and staff for the
TLC that my father received for the
last 3 years of his life.- Aidan, son of
resident
Horton House provides a warm and
caring environment, it is well
managed with dedicated staff. We
have been very happy with the care
provided. – Mary, niece of resident
We feel privileged to have found such a
caring and compassionate
environment as Horton House for our
elderly uncle. The management and
staff are the most important aspect of
any residential facility and we have
complete peace of mind that he is
being very well looked after. The care
staff are always observant and
attentive to the residents' needs as well
as welcoming and helpful to us,
the family, when we visit. – Cherri,
niece of resident
